Sheyman And ELDee’s Trybe Records Part Ways

published on

A year after record label boss eLDee da Don announced the new formation of his new Da Trybe Records, popular producer and sound engineer Ademoye Oluseyi better known as Sheyman has left the clique and parted with the label.
eLDee in February 2012, unveiled a new set of artistes - pop act K9, R&B singer Sojay with music producers Sarz and Sheyman, tagging them Da Trybe 2.0, a revamped squad replacing the original Da Trybe which disbanded many years ago. eLDee also added to the label alternative singer Aramide, female rapper Eva and US returnee Rukus.
Five months after signing to Trybe, Eva and label agreed to dissolve her contract due to multiple differences.
NET recently discovered Sheyman is no longer with the label and we've just gotten confirmation from a rep for the singer-producer. 'Sheyman is in a meeting now. He's on his own now, doing his thing', Sheyman's PA Damilola told our reporter in a telephone conversation.
The PA added that the producer now has his own production outfit called Phat Base Entertainment. Sheyman's Twitter page corresponds with his PA's story as his profile links to a website Phatbase.com which is currently under construction.
Trybe Records is yet to respond to our questions on the split but they've already taken Sheyman's profile off the label's official website. A cached version (view below) however gives us an idea of how the page looked before it was deleted.
Sheyman who is also known for his sound engineering skills (he mixed and mastered Iyanya's 'Kukere') has been in the music scene for a while. In 2008, he released his debut album 'Hotter than fire' under his then Baseline Records and then dropped a follow up 'King of Melody' in 2009.
He was announced to have been working on his third album 'From Zero to Hero' while with Da Trybe'.
Under Trybe Records, he released the hit song 'Celebrate' with the video shot in South Africa.
Those who have been in the industry for a minute will also remember Sheyman was signed on Kwame's label Strictly Next Level records, alongside Bouqui and Chichi.

Oyakhilome Drags Fashola To Court Over Land Revocation

published on

Believers Love World (aka Christ Embassy), has dragged Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola to court for revoking its parcel of land in Oregun, Ikeja.

The church, which has flamboyant preacher, Chris Oyakhilome, as its presiding pastor, filed an application before Justice Samuel Candide-Johnson of the Lagos High Court, seeking an order restraining the government from further interfering with the land.

The church is challenging the revocation order dated February 15, 2013, on the grounds that the act of the governor interfered with a pending court action, which the land is its subject matter.

It would be recalled that the parcel of land, measuring approximately 9183.257 square meters, has since 2002, been a subject of contention between the church and three others – Mrs Titilola Awosusi, Alhaja Omolara Ademosu, and Mr. Abayomi Willoughby – who instituted the suit challenging the church's claim to the land.

But the church in its counter-claim dated March 7, 2013, sequel to the order of the governor which prevented the church from gaining access to the land, is seeking  an order of Interlocutory Injunction, restraining the Lagos State Government from interfering with its landed property situated at Oyeleke Street, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

Urging the court to grant its request, the church said there was "an urgent need to stop the state government from interfering with the subject matter of the suit."

In an affidavit supporting its application, the church alleged that while the substantive suit was pending, the state government through its officials, on October 19, 2011, invaded the said land and committed "an act of trespass on the land".

The church's application is fixed for hearing Tuesday, 12 March 2013.

Cossy Orjiakor Drops Album

published on

Nollywood bad girl, Cossy Orjiakor, has released her music album. Simply titled Nutty Queen, the album doesn't even have her popular name, Cossy, on its front jacket.
Nonetheless, it's one of the rated albums in Alaba presently and it is marketed by one of Alaba's biggest marketers, Uba Pacific.

Unlike other actresses who went into music, Cossy hasn't really been bashed by critics.
She has released several singles and some videos over time and there hasn't been much hullabaloo over her singing ability.

Pictures: Mariah Carey keeps it simple in slinky black in new video to Oz: The Great And Powerful soundtrack Almost Home

published on

Over the past couple of years, Mariah Carey has been focusing on motherhood and her new role as an American Idol judge.

However, as she returns to performing with the title song Almost Home from the Oz: The Great And Powerful soundtrack, Mariah is toning things down with a simple new video.

In contrast to previous sexier, action-packed promos, the 42-year-old lets her powerful vocals do the talking as she sing in a black dress in a black and white video.

She's back! Mariah Carey sings her heart out in the new video for Almost Home

In between Mariah's singing, viewers are treated to clips from the new Disney film, which stars James Franco as a young Wizard Of Oz.

Critically-acclaimed photographer and director David LaChapelle directed the singer in the video, in what he described as a 'a duet between Mariah and the movie'.

Her new single comes as Mariah is back working on the follow-up to her 2009 album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.

She said last month: 'I'm really working hard.'

She admitted her longtime collaborator and fellow Idol judge Randy Jackson hasn't concerned himself with her new work.

'He doesn't know every detail of this because I've been working with a bunch of people in secret locations.'

Meanwhile, the busy star has also released new shots to advertise her new fragrance Dreams.

In a press release, she enthused: 'The process of developing a fragrance is exhilarating and it takes me to another place within my creative self, which is why I enjoyed creating Mariah Carey Dreams.

'I humbly call myself a 'perfumer in training' because I love it so much - almost as much as I love making music. I have the utmost respect for the perfumers because they have the ability to combine a few simple scents into a classic and exciting fragrance.

Happy International Women's day!

published on

This post is for all the women out there! Happy International Women's Day! The holiday first observed on March 8, 1914 is observed worldwide every March 8.

International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women's Day, is marked on March 8 every year.[1] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily Eastern Europe, Russia, and the former Soviet bloc. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.

Must Read: OBJ’s 80-Year-Old Friend Gives Him A “Birthday Advice” On His 76th Birthday

published on

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has been advised to act like an elder statesman and not as an incumbent. The former president was given this advice by a former Federal Commissioner for Works and Housing, Alhaji Lateef Okunnu.
Octogenarian Okunnu was a commissioner during General Yakubu Gowon's administration, and he celebrated his 80th birthday recently. The former Commissioner advised Obasanjo to stop dabbling into the government of President Goodluck Jonathan, either individually or through the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as he had served his terms as head of state, and equally made his marks.
Okunnu said "the best for him is to retire from active politics and become an elder-statesman." He also added: "Let me plead with General Obasanjo. He is no longer the president of this country. He should stop harassing successive presidents. Leave them alone… You have served your terms. You served, first as military head of state between 1976 and1979; three years and you served eight years as civilian president. Leave Jonathan alone to govern… Stop harassing him. Leave him alone to govern and retire gracefully as an elder statesman.
