MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS NOMINATIONS

The list of the nominees for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards has been revealed.The list was announced by Katy Perry on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 and the show will be held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, August 28, 2011.

Kanye West however has the most nominations with 11 nominations while Katy Perry comes in second place with nine nominations. They both share five nominations  for Katy Perry's video ‘E.T‘. Adele comes in third with seven nominations.

JK MEETS BAKAR!!!

BAKAR

When it comes to youth entertainment, the Sanni-Shittus are a household name. Aisha, Bakar and  Zato are like the only set of power siblings doing well for themselves in their own fields of Nigerian Entertainment. JK met up with the designer of the family; Bakar, to talk about the past,present and future of his clothing line; Bakar Couture. ENJOY!!







JK.Who is Bakar?


BAKAR. Bakar is from my first name Abubakar. I got the name from one of my friends when I first started uni,and it stuck ever since. My full name is Abubakar Sanni-Shittu. 

JK.Educational background


BAKAR. I started in Chrisland nursery and primary school,and went to Kings' College for the first three(3) years of my secondary school. I left K. C for D-Ivy college where I only spent a term, then went to Christ the Cornerstone(C. T. C) where I finished my secondary school. Then Redeemers' University. 

JK.When did you first notice your interest in fashion?


BAKAR. My mum is a fashion designer,so I have always had that interest in fashion from an early age.


 JK. Were your parents in full support?


BAKAR. Definitely. Like I said,my mum is a designer,so she's very very supportive.My dad also is supportive,he's very fashionable so he buys the idea of being a designer. 

JK. How often do you showcase your label through the use of fashion shows and photo shoots?


BAKAR. Not that often because of school,but now that am through by His grace,I have a couple of shows I would involve bakar couture in. Photo shoots as well.


 JK.Are you always dressed in bakar couture?

BAKAR. (Laughs),not all the time. I have other labels I enjoy putting on. 

JK.What have been your challenges since you started off?


BAKAR. I would say the tailors. The tailors in Nigeria, in most cases, don't  keep to time,they delay and stall jobs,until the designer looks like the bad person which is bad for business. 

JK.How does it feel coming from a family filled with talent? (Speaking in the line of your brother and sister).

BAKAR. Lol,yeah its cool. I mean what I do is different from what they do,but we are all under the same entertainment umbrella,and its pretty cool to watch them do what they do. 

JK.Who do you look up to in the fashion industry?


BAKAR. My mum,she's a very strong designer,and her customers hardly complain which is a plus for business. Her creativity is one of her strong points as well.

JK.Who or what is your inspiration?

BAKAR. God is my inspiration. He tells me what to do. 

JK.Now that you are through with school,what is the future of Bakar couture?


BAKAR. Very bright. Am meeting the right people every other day,and also doing everything I can to improve on my designs. 

JK. With the couture,your physique and good dress sense, one would suspect you get a lot of female attention. How do you deal with it? 

BAKAR. (Laughing hard). Yeah but the thing is I don't get any female attention even with the couture (sad face).

JK. Does Abu have a girlfriend?



BAKAR.I consider that part of my life private. I would rather not talk about it.


JK.What is your advice for other upcoming designers?

BAKAR. Am upcoming as well, so I don't have any advice for them. We are even competitors so its on.(Laughs). Just be good at what you do,simple. 

JK.Finally, if you were to come back to earth as a popular Nigerian pastor,who would it be and why?


BAKAR. (laughing hard)pastor?I don't know; pastor Chris? except for the perm. (Laughs), but yeah pastor Chris.

Tyler Hadley, 17, is accused of beating his parents
 to death with a hammer and then throwing a party

A teenager in Florida has been accused of posting a Facebook invite for a house party, killing his parents with a hammer and then hosting dozens of people while the adults' bludgeoned bodies were locked in the master bedroom.The bodies were discovered by police on Sunday morning, and 17-year-old Tyler Hadley is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.  Police believe the adults were struck on their heads and torsos the previous day sometime after their son posted on Facebook to tell friends about the party.Investigators believe Blake and Mary-Jo Hadley were attacked outside their masterbedroom and the bodies were moved into the bedroom and the door locked.As many as 60 people attended the party Saturday in the community about 50 miles north of West Palm Beach, according to Port St Lucie Police spokesman Tom Nichols.They were loud enough to prompt a noise complaint and a visit by police officers. When they arrived at 1.30am on Sunday to warn about the noise, the party was already breaking up, Mr Nichols said.Then, police said, they received a tip that a murder may have taken place. They returned to the home at 4.20 am, finding the bodies covered with towels, files, books and other household items, and the hammer between them.The mother, 47, was a school teacher. The father, 54, worked for Florida Power and Light.Police said they believed they died of blunt-force trauma.

With three failed marriages between them, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony finally seemed to find true love together when they married seven years ago. They had twin children, went on tour together, did a movie together and even planned a music-based reality show they were working on together. But on Friday, the pair announced they were no longer together.

"We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision," the couple said in a statement  by Lopez's publicist. "We have come to amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

It was a surprising split for one of Hollywood's most high-profile couples. They seemed inseparable: Lopez even danced in the background for her crooner husband when he performed on "American Idol," where she debuted as a judge this past season.

Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, married in 2004 and have 3-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

The pair, both of Puerto Rican heritage, knew each other for years before the 2004 wedding. He was ending a marriage to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres, while she had recently endured a high-profile breakup with Ben Affleck.

Lopez had been married twice before in brief unions to Ojani Noa and Chris Judd and had a famous romance with Sean "Diddy" Combs.

Her union with Anthony was her most enduring public relationship. The pair did a joint tour together and starred in the movie "El Cantante" in 2006.

They also had two children, twins Emme and Max. They were Lopez's first children; Anthony had a child from Torres and another from a previous relationship.

In April, the pair, both 42, announced plans for a television show together, "Q'Viva! The Chosen," with Simon Fuller, the creator of "Idol." The show was to feature the superstar couple as they traveled the world to find the best performers in Latin music, dance and other arts with the goal of creating a live extravaganza. The show however has no air date.

Lopez released her latest album, titled "Love?" this year. Her career, which lulled in recent years, has surged since she became an "Idol" judge. 

The show had no airdate, and it's unclear if it will continue.

NOVA SPEAKS ON HIS TWO NEW SONGS; "PUT IT ON ME" AND "SAY YEAH"

.....The last time 17 yr old, Dapo Adeyemi AKA Novakillz met up with JK alongsides Zato, Basky, BaronG, Kidtusic and OzzyB; he seemed a little shy and reserved. Not much was gotten from him. But on a second meet, Nova (As he is fondly called by his friends) expressed himself on his two new songs; "put it on me" and "say yeah" (both to be released this month) and also on his plans for the future. ENJOY!!

JK. What has changed about novakillz since the last time you spoke to JK?

NOVAKILLZ: I would say I'm more mature as a person than I was then,a lot has changed,especially with my music.

JK. #Putitonme and #teamnovakillz have been everywhere for a while now can you explain why?

NOAKILLZ: For about a month now iv been trying to create buzz for the songs I'm releasing. #TeamNovakillz is just way people that support my music can help promote me and its been pretty successful so far

JK. Tell us more about the song, "put it on me". I heard it has this "feel good" feel to it. How true is that?

NOVAKILLZ: "Put it on me" is a party song,it doesn't deal with serious or complicated topics. It's something you can relax and listen to anytime

JK. The second song to be released this month; "say yeah" I heard is a jam; tell us more about it.

NOVAKILLZ: Say Yeah is different from anything I've ever done and its actually the song I had the most fun recording. I think people would like it because it's something they can relate to.

JK. If you're releasing 2 songs in 1 month then you definitely have a lot to offer the rest of the year. What does the future look like for nova?

NOVAKILLZ: I've been recording a lot through out the year so you can definitely expect a mix tape soon,probably at the end of the year or early next year (smiles)

JK.The babes will keep pestering with this question. Does nova have a girlfriend?

NOVAKILLZ: (laughs) no,I don't have a girlfriend (sad face)

JK.Your advice to other upcoming artistes.

NOVAKILLZ: I can't advice upcoming artiste because they are my competition and I also fall under that category but I can say this; Just keep doing your thing because nothing else would work for you.

JK.Finally,(you know I always have my parting question,(smiles)) If you were to come back to earth as a popular yoruba movie actor who would it be? 

NOVAKILLZ: (laughing hard), Segun Arinze probably,his swag is out of this world(jokes)
