Dear Readers: Happy New Month!

published on

So it's September! The "ember" months are here. This means Christmas is just around the corner! (I can't wait!)

Meaning Autumn's here! ( -̩̩̩͡˛ -̩̩̩͡)

Let me explain further, if Autumn's here, Summer's over! And if Summer's over then school's starting in a matter of days! *sigh*

Anyhow, we'll all have to manage! And for those of my readers that are not in school; "Its September!" Spend last month's salary wisely oh!

In the Month of September, do these 3 things to succeed;
Drink, Steal & Lie.

Drink from the fountain of knowledge,
Steal away from bad company/distractions
& Lie on the bed of success.

Have a great Month!

Paralympics: Nwokorie wins second gold for Nigeria •Ikechuwu, Anthony

published on

Nigeria was once again in the headlines at the ongoing Paralympic Games in London as Ivory Nwokorie won a second gold medal in the 44kg category of powerlifting. Obichukwu Ikechukwu and Ulonnam Anthony won silver.

Nwokorie lifted 109 kg to win the gold medal. Cigdem Dede of Turkey came second while Lydiia Soloviova of Ukraine took the bronze medal.

A happy Nwokorie said after the victory that she had made her country proud.

"I'm very, very happy. I have made my country proud."

Nwokorie lifted just once and could not improve on the 109 kg, but it was enough to beat other competitors to the gold medal.

In the men's 52 kg, Obichukwu Ikechukwu won silver, missing the gold medal by 1kg. He lifted 175 kg while China's Feng Qi lifted 176kg to win the gold medal. Russia's Krivulya Vladimir also lifted 175 kg but he was heavier than the Nigerian so he took bronze medal.

In the 56 kg men's category, Ulonnam Anthony won silver with Egypt's Sherif Othman defending his gold medal. Wang Jian of China won the bronze medal.

The three medals followed Yakubu Adesokan's gold in the men's 48 kg on opening day. He broke his own world record with a lift of 178kg in just his second attempt but that record only lasted a few minutes as Adesokan went on to lift 180kg – almost four times his own bodyweight.

Family Of Nine Die Of Generator Smoke

published on

On Monday July 9th, nine members of the same family died mysteriously in their home. Neighbours and other family members said their deaths was spiritual.

But the Imo state government said it has finally unraveled the cause of death of the Emekuku family. According to the autopsy result released yesterday by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Obi Njoku, they were killed by generator fume poisoning.

The commissioner said the family slept and forgot to switch off their generator set and subsequently died as a result of the generator fume they inhaled while asleep and not by 'evil spirits'.
