published on Sunday, 30 June 2013

Avid readers of JK will by now have noticed my love and support for outstanding rapper; Trick. Well, he is back with the visuals for his brilliant hip hop song "4:20 in Gidi". This song, which is the first song off his second mixtape "wayward lifestyle 2", scheduled to be released before the end of the year, touched me. The mixtape will have production credits from Jstaffz who has also produced for big names like Wiz Khalifa and French Montana.

OJB Jezreel's Kidney Transplant Fundraiser becomes a saga!

published on Friday, 28 June 2013

I don't know how it skipped my mind but I wanted to blog about OJB's sickness and ask you guys to, please, donate. It doesn't matter how small, be the one to make a difference in somebody's life. OJB Jezreel needs about N15 million for a kidney transplant with an apparent, available, donor.

This takes me to how far donations have been going concerning this issue. I hear celebrities like Don Jazzy donated N1 million, Tuface donated N1.5million, Wizkid donated N3million, Ice Prince donated N500,000, Ruggedman, Mercy Johnson, Iyanya and his manger, Ubi Franklin donated N1 million, Peter, and Paul and Jude Okoye donated N5 million. Most of which visited, the ailing producer, OJB Jezreel at his Gbaja, Surulere residence.

But then, Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim posted a message on her instagram yesterday asking and even demanding for people to stop hassling celebrities to donate to the cause. She even went ahead to write that a kidney transplant doesn't go over $50,000 in cost. She doesn't understand why people are asking for $100,000 (N15 million) for OJB.

That's how she made public her opinion when Kim Kardashian came to Nigeria for Darey's show. Was this called for?

There are obviously better ways of addressing issues.

The Obamas are scared of Nigeria?

published on

Word reached me today that US President; Barack Obama began his African Tour with his wife and daughters and is apparently not coming here, as he begins his African tour with his wife and daughters. I hear they are in Senegal, going to South Africa and Tanzania. Nigeria's the giant of Africa for pete's sake. Nigeria is the most populous country and one of the richest in Africa, why won't he come here? I, however, heard insecurity was one of the major reasons why they won't touch base with Nigeria.

It is well!

Dbanj's PR; good or aggressive?

published on

Dapo Oyebanjo's been pushing the brand; Dbanj up our faces for the past few weeks by featuring on songs, releasing songs, the DKM concert, the $20,000 suit made by the Okunoren twins(yes I said $20,000) and the likes.

Is his PR aggressive or actually quite good? I've grown less of a fan but I can't help but commend on how Dbanj is in our face at every turn! But what matters in every career is the product.

Is the $20000 one button suit made of money by the Okunoren twins a waste of money?
Is his music worth it?
Is Dbanj really a true artist or a businessman?

Let me leave y'all to answer these questions!

Rick Ross; "Country of Africa", really?

published on

I couldn't even hold my laughter, when I saw Rick Ross' tweet calling Africa a country! Later they'll call us "developing". At least were not illiterates! Smh

Rick Ross may have been a little too excited to paint his visit to Africa as proof that the world is excited for Wale's upcoming album, "The Gifted", but he should proof-read his tweets and public statements next time or get a proof-reader if it's too much of a job for him!

RIP Modurodoluwa Ruth Temidayo Ige

published on Tuesday, 25 June 2013

It's never fun to hear of people die. But when it's someone close to you but yet so far, it can hurt.

I remember Dolu, being very jovial, all smiles and joyful in chapel. When I saw her picture on people's BBM dps, I couldn't believe it. Dolu is really dead?

Modurodoluwa Ruth Temidayo Ige, an alumnus of my soon to be alma mata, Redeemer's University, died of cancer on June 16, 2013 and her death shook my school and everyone that is in or passed through it.

According to the website/blog created in her honour, http://doluliveson.last-memories.com/; "Dolu lived to love, she brought sunshine into every space she entered, she was vibrant, always full of life, never tired to help a friend and never showed weakness even till the last moment. Dolu loved dancing. it was one of her many hobbies and she would dance anywhere just to cheer you up. Teach them a move or two in heaven dear friend.

As we sympathize with her family, we take solace in the truth that she is resting with Christ and one day, we shall reunite to worship God together. Dolu lives on FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS."

Another blogger gave this submission; "When I got to know more about her and found out she had cancer my respect for her grew beyond bounds. Dolu was a star; a radiant light that touched everything and everyone around her with her being. One would never have thought she was facing an enemy so hideous and devastating and consuming. In hindsight, I think that darkness made her light shine even brighter. Dolu's braveness and courage is something that I will always remember and admire and aspire towards. To face a personal challenge so daunting, and still be a pillar of support and care to your friends and family; it makes me look at myself and shake my head in disgust because I know I could do so much more for the ones I love and the ones I call my friends.

Goodbye Modurodoluwa Ige. Rest in perfect peace."

Dolu's story is inspiring. I wasn't close to her but her life and her relationships with her friends and her family touched me. The Bible in Romans 14:8 says; "For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's".

What will you be remembered for?

Rest In Peace Dolu!

Woolwich shooting!

published on

On Friday, 24th of May, 2013, I called my grandfather and he goes; "can you imagine, 2 guys brutally killed an ex-soldier in Woolwich yesterday". I couldn't even believe it.

I read that for more than 10 minutes after they allegedly hacked to death, 25-year-old soldier Lee Rigby, the men waited for police to arrive, inviting people to film them, with their hands covered in blood clutching blades.

The suspects, Michael Adeboloja, 28, originally from Romford in Essex, and Michael Oluwatobi Adebowale, 22, of Greenwich in southeast London, are being treated for non life-threatening injuries under police guard at separate hospitals.

The men, who are of Nigerian background, but born in Britain, were both known to the security services, but were assessed by MI5 as not posing a threat requiring "immediate intervention", Government sources said.

Two women arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder following a series of armed raids overnight have been released without charge. Police stand over one of the suspects as they call for an amublance
A 29-year-old man, who was also arrested, is still being questioned.

Six addresses were searched as part of the investigation, three in south London, one in east London, one in north London and one in Saxilby, Lincolnshire, the former home of Adeboloja. The front door of a home in east London's Eastney Street had been shattered.

A neighbour said four people were led away from the flat at 6am, and that two children, aged three and seven, were also taken away.

The Metropolitan Police said: "This is a large, complex and fast-moving investigation which continues to develop. Many lines of enquiry are being followed by detectives and the investigation is progressing well."

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it was not pursuing any criminal or misconduct offences in relation to the officers who used their weapons. IPCC investigators have viewed CCTV of what happened, and said two officers fired guns and one discharged a Taser.

Drummer Rigby, who was from Manchester and married with a two-year-old son, was described by his family as a "loving son, husband, father, brother and uncle".

"All he wanted to do from when he was a little boy was be in the Army. He wanted to live life and enjoy himself. His family meant everything to him," his family said.

Run student arrested!

published on

I was stunned when I read this story on Daily Post! Pls read;

"Homicide detectives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, have arrested an undergraduate of the Redeemers University, Ogun State, in connection with the brutal murder of a suspected gay banker, Adindu Ohamara.

According to sources, the banker was on April 9, found in a pool of his blood in his room, having been stabbed severally by the suspect.

Six persons were thereafter arrested in connection with the crime by detectives from the Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department ,SCID,in Panti, Lagos State.

Some of the persons picked-up by the Police included, a sister of the deceased, Flora who regained her freedom on Wednesday.

DailyPost has gathered that detectives finally picked up the male student from the Redeemers University, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun state who is now termed the prime suspect.

According to our sources, the prime suspect, name withheld, initially denied knowing the deceased while being drilled by Police detectives, but later admitted knowing the deceased. He however gave an alibi that he was reading with some of his colleagues at the university premises at the time of the murder.

The Police thereafter visited the university where the school authorities were said to have told them that the student was not anywhere near their premises at that material time.

The father of the suspect also told Police detectives that his son got home around 10p.m that day.

Late Ohamara, in his 30s, resides in a three-bedroom flat at 26 Obayan Street, Akoka with his elder sister, Flora and one Collins, an undergraduate of the University of Lagos and friend of the deceased who was squatting with them.

It was learnt that on the day Ohamara was killed, he had returned home from office with a stranger with whom he was suspected to have had a gay relationship with.

According to the security guard at the gate, Ohamara and the stranger arrived home in the deceased's car.

It was also learnt that some of the persons earlier arrested in connection with the murder have identified the undergraduate as the stranger who returned home with Ohamara that night and disappeared before the severely-stabbed banker was discovered."

I've been however hearing lots of rumours about this case around school. As soon as I get them verified however, I'll relay them to you!

Tonto dike, a force to reckon with?

published on

Lmao!

Y'all should by now have seen her video for her track "hi". From her performance at ay live to her hi video, its safe to say that Tonto doesn't scare easy! I was shocked when I saw her jumping on the ay live stage in her white hot pants but when I saw her hi video, I was impressed! Tonto is slowly carving a niche for herself and is slowly but surely proving that she is a hardworker and is going nowhere.

But again, a few weeks ago, a video of her drunk and saying all sorts at a show spilled all over the internet. Tonto,to me needs good PR and she is sure to blow! Haters back down abeg, the babe's not even sweating.

Linda lies!

published on

Linda Ikeji is slowly losing her touch and I'm getting disappointed! Many times, most of her reports have come out as lies! Covenant students didn't find it funny when a false report concerning a fellow student was published on Linda's blog. They devoted their time and energy to attempting to destroy Linda's reputation on twitter and other social networks. Word of advice to Linda, don't accept just any tip from anybody. If I've learnt anything from being a student of mass communication, always verify any story before publishing it.

Margaret Thatcher's death!

published on

In February, I sat in my living room and watched The Iron Lady, a movie about Margaret Thatcher. I fell in love with her and what she stood for. When I heard she died, I couldn't even understand it. I was shocked that as soon as I started liking her, she died. *sigh*

Margaret thatcher, the Right Honourable and Baroness, LG OM PC FRS, was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. She was in office from the 4th of May, 1979 to the 28th of November, 1990. She was married to Denis Thatcher, who died in 2003. She has two children, Carol Thatcher and Mark Thatcher.

I decided to go through Wikipedia, and here's what I found for those of you that know nothing about her;

"She was a British politician who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990 and the Leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was the longest-serving British Prime Minister of the 20th century and is the only woman to have held the office. A Soviet journalist called her the "Iron Lady", a nickname that became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As Prime Minister, she implemented policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism. following several years of poor health, Thatcher died on the morning of 8 April 2013 at the age of 87 after suffering a stroke. She had been staying at a suite in The Ritz Hotel in London since December 2012 after having difficulty with stairs at her Chester Square home.

Reactions to the news of Thatcher's death were mixed, ranging from tributes lauding her as Britain's greatest-ever peacetime Prime Minister to public celebrations and expressions of personalised vitriol. Details of her funeral were agreed with her in advance. In line with her wishes she received a ceremonial funeral, including full military honours, with a church service at St Paul's Cathedral on 17 April. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip attended the funeral, the second time in the Queen's reign that she had attended the funeral of a former prime minister.

Kim Kardashian Drama!

published on

One fateful morning, I woke up to tweets including insults addressed at Kim K. I was shocked, in my mind I was like what has Kim done till I read the tweet myself! Gosh! I was pissed! Monkeys? Monkeys? Really Kim? I won't lie, I joined the crowd in insulting her, till I thought about it, what if the tweet was edited? Kim visited Nigeria in February to host a a concert with R&B singer Darey Art Alade.

One of Kim's spokespersons however said, "This wasn't tweeted from her account. She never tweeted this."

And Kim herself on Twitter said, "I see there's a photo shopped tweet floating around, supposedly something I said about Nigeria. That was NOT me, or my feelings. That fake tweet is very disturbing & I would NEVER EVER tweet something like that."

Plus, did you hear she gave birth to a baby girl a few days back?

Jesse Jagz left Chocolate City?!

published on

I was shocked, infact stunned when I saw posts on different blogs, on the 20th of March, about Jesse jagz leaving Chocolate City. After Dbanj and Don Jazzy, it has just become a trend, but then, this year has been a year of surprises!

He released a statement that he was leaving the label. In the statement, the rapper said that he was leaving for good and still maintains good relationship with the label and former label mates.

Read the statement below:

To whom it may concern:

I, Jesse Garba Abaga (also known as "Jesse Jagz") an artist formerly signed to Chocolate City Music label hereby wishes to notify my fans and the general public about my voluntary exit from the label.

After my initial two year contractual agreement with Chocolate City, I do not wish to renew my contract with them and as such have proceeded to continue my music career with my new team at Jesse Jagz Nation. I still maintain a cordial relationship with the management of Chocolate City and my former label mates and I wish them the best in all their future endeavors. Any further information will be passed
across through my publicist but until then, have a good day. Look out for my sophomore album JagZNation Vol. 1 coming out in July 2013.

Oga at the Top!

published on

I remember I was walking out of the library when a friend showed me the video of the officer who couldn't give the channels tv presenters the website address without his "oga at the top" saying another thing.

Every one else around me was laughing but I couldn't bring myself to laugh. This is someone's father for pete's sake. Are these the kinds of human beings occupying probable, prioritized positions in our country? I was highly disappointed and the least bit amused!

And to think games, t-shirts, mugs and the likes were made and sold. Trust Nigerians to make hay while the sun shines! Lmao! I wonder who will still wear a "my oga at the top" t-shirt next year and not feel awkward!

The death of Chinua achebe!

published on

This threw me off my balance at first when I heard. Chinua Achebe is one of those legends I thought, as a child, will never die! You know how you see he and the likes of wole soyinka and you admire them? The thought of death will never cross your mind. It was sad but his burial was grand as expected.

If you don't by now know who Chinua Achebe is, let me give you an introduction.
Born Albert Chinualumogu Achebe; on the 16th of November 1930 , Chinua Achebe died on the 21st of March 2013. He was a Nigerian novelist, poet, professor, and critic. He was best known for his first novel and magnum opus, Things Fall Apart (1958), which is the most widely read book in modern African literature.

I was saddened when I saw the look on the faces of his kids. We the fans and onlookers felt bad, but imagine the sadness in the hearts of his kids? *sigh*

May his soul rest in perfect peace!
