I remember Dolu, being very jovial, all smiles and joyful in chapel. When I saw her picture on people's BBM dps, I couldn't believe it. Dolu is really dead?
Modurodoluwa Ruth Temidayo Ige, an alumnus of my soon to be alma mata, Redeemer's University, died of cancer on June 16, 2013 and her death shook my school and everyone that is in or passed through it.
According to the website/blog created in her honour, http://doluliveson.last-memories.com/; "Dolu lived to love, she brought sunshine into every space she entered, she was vibrant, always full of life, never tired to help a friend and never showed weakness even till the last moment. Dolu loved dancing. it was one of her many hobbies and she would dance anywhere just to cheer you up. Teach them a move or two in heaven dear friend.
As we sympathize with her family, we take solace in the truth that she is resting with Christ and one day, we shall reunite to worship God together. Dolu lives on FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS."
Another blogger gave this submission; "When I got to know more about her and found out she had cancer my respect for her grew beyond bounds. Dolu was a star; a radiant light that touched everything and everyone around her with her being. One would never have thought she was facing an enemy so hideous and devastating and consuming. In hindsight, I think that darkness made her light shine even brighter. Dolu's braveness and courage is something that I will always remember and admire and aspire towards. To face a personal challenge so daunting, and still be a pillar of support and care to your friends and family; it makes me look at myself and shake my head in disgust because I know I could do so much more for the ones I love and the ones I call my friends.
Goodbye Modurodoluwa Ige. Rest in perfect peace."
Dolu's story is inspiring. I wasn't close to her but her life and her relationships with her friends and her family touched me. The Bible in Romans 14:8 says; "For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's".
What will you be remembered for?
Rest In Peace Dolu!
