"I am Omoni Oboli and I represent Naija!
Our country is littered with success stories that have shaped us into who we are. We have icons that have, through their consistency, paved the way for many of us to walk right through. Many have done it unwittingly by just focusing on achieving their personal goals and in their resolve to break through the stereotypes, disenfranchisements and stigmas they have shown the  rest of us the endless possibilities in their chosen fields. Others have done it with a plan to leave a trail for others to follow.
I will continue to celebrate these icons that I consider to be the true role models for our youth to emulate in our nation. One such icon is our very own Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. The original Omosexy who has been tagged the African Magic.

Omotola waltzed into the movie industry before it was nicknamed Nollywood and took her place at the top of the industry as a leading lady like she actually owned the place. She fits into it easily like one who knew that she was born to do this. Her consistency at the top is evidence of her prowess at delivering every role consistently from when she stole our hearts in the movie Mortal Inheritance.
The ever-growing fans of Nollywood have been held spellbound by her believability in all her varied roles. At such a young age when many didn't know their left from right she understood the responsibility that came with being the leading lady. We saw her cry, laugh, rejoice, explore and display other emotions and adventures that Nollywood has been consistently propelling us actors through in the last 21 years of its existence so that we have come to believe that we know her personally.

With her own style and wits, Omotola has somehow shown us her life and yet kept the personal bit intact, even though she got into marriage at an age many consider to be too young. She has stayed in the marriage when many casualties of failed marriages litter our nation and our industry. She simply defied the odds! Even though pilots are reputed to be philanderers, she has been successfully married to one for many years. Actors have a global reputation of divorces, citing the flimsiest excuses for their actions, but she has been steadfast in her marriage.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting down actors for their divorces because many other industries surpass them in divorce rates. I'm just showing that these are perceived notions the world over. Many of them, especially the actresses, have had to endure strenuous relationships due to their celebrity status in the hands of their spouses,. Through it all, our Omosexy remains a pillar of virtue as an example to many that it is possible to stay focused, achieve success in any field of endeavour and still maintain a good family.

She continues to break grounds globally, being celebrated for what we already knew she is, one of the most influential figures of our time! This is due to the impact of our film industry, Nollywood. This industry that many do not yet see its direct and indirect impact on our society, but has broken grounds the world over. This Nollywood that gave the opportunity to many of us to find our voice globally. Where we would have been big fishes in our small pond, we find that the world hangs on our every word and action. This is such a huge responsibility for us to bear, and Omotola has held her place there such that she has been commended for it consistently.

I don't need to talk about all the awards she has acquired over the years, and I don't know if she can count how many awards she has received till date, but we know that she has not failed to deliver on most of her performances. The Bible says that a man's gifts makes room for him and brings him before great men, kings or captains of industries, and it certainly has in her case. She has been honoured for her performance on screen and for her activities off screen. She has lent her voice to many worthwhile causes and championed many of her own.

She is the mother of four children and has managed to stay in shape, not only for the screen, but for her husband. She is truly an icon in the movie industry and in Nigeria as a whole. She has shown that with hard work, consistency, diligence, focus and a desire to achieve, there is nothing that can stop your rise to the top of your game.

I try to celebrate the icons in our nation that are worthy of emulating so that our youth and our people can begin to heal from the damage of inconsistent, morally decadent and corrupt role models that we have followed in the past and start chatting a new course for ourselves by looking to people whose lives have paved a walkway to greatness.

Remember to go out there and start or continue buying and watching our movies, like Anchor Baby, Last Flight to Abuja, Doctor Bello and many other titles out there that are good quality products. My movie, Render to Caesar, will be in the cinemas sometime in November. It promises to be a must watch for everyone. Niger State spends N10.7b on fertiliser

I read this report in The Nation newspaper and nearly flipped! I suspect some foul play, because N10.7b is just too much. Read the report below.


"The Niger State Government spent N10.7 billion on the implementation of some of its agricultural programmes in the past four years, Governor Babangida Aliyu has said.

Aliyu, represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Ahmed Matane, at the opening of a stakeholders meeting of staple crops processing zones in Minna, the state capital, said his administration spent N7.5 billion on the procurement and sale of fertiliser at subsidised rates.

He said the government had ensured a hitch-free sale of fertiliser, adding, that had helped to boost farmers' productivity.

He said the government also procured 241 tractors at the cost of N1.5 billion for sale to cooperative groups and large-scale farmers to enhance mechanised farming.

Aliyu said his administration expended N1 billion on the implementation of commercial agriculture scheme in the state.

He said the Ministry of Agriculture had procured and sold to the public, grains valued at N757 million, adding that grains were also distributed free-of-charge to indigent members of the society.

Aliyu said the state government had resuscitated the agricultural extension services to enable farmers adopt and improve on their productivity."

Sean Kingston Sued For Alleged Gang Rape

I don't even know who to believe in this case!

So I read on TMZ that a lawsuit's been filed against Sean Kingston and his bodyguard gang stating that they raped a drunk teenager in Sean's hotel room in 2010. Sean Kingston is denying the allegations.

TMZ reports that; "The teenager, Carissa Capeloto, who is now 22, is saying she was forced to have sex with Sean, his bodyguard and a member of Sean's band at a Seattle hotel in July, 2010, after she had smoked pot and downed 7-10 shots of vodka. Capeloto, who has sued all 3 men, alleges she'd been invited to Kingston's hotel room for a meet-and-greet following a Bieber concert, where Kingston had also performed, but when she showed up, Kingston was waiting naked on his bed. Capeloto claims the bodyguard picked her up and placed her on top of Kingston, and all three of the men proceeded to gang rape her while she was "obviously intoxicated, incapable of consent." Capeloto says her friend later entered the room and rescued her. The police were called and Capeloto was taken to the hospital where she says she was treated for physical injuries consistent with rape. She says her life has been ruined ... she can barely sleep, has mood swings and panic attacks.  Capeloto wants $5 mil minimum. By the way criminal charges against Kingston were dropped in 2010 after cops concluded Capeloto wasn't credible enough for a legit case. Kingston has filed legal docs insisting the sex was 100% consensual. The trial is set for November."

Clint Eastwood & Wife Dina Separating After Almost 17 Years Of Marriage!

If you're an avid E watcher, you would remember the reality show Mrs Eastwood and Company. Well, you then should know Dina.
if you don't watch E, you should at least know ace director and actor, Clint Eastwood.

I was shocked when I heard the couple were separating. Not that they're a spectacular couple or anything, but they've been together 17years. What else could Clint be looking for at his age? I hear the split was, however, amicable.

I also heard that Dina and Clint have been living in separate houses since last June! A source close to Clint said: "Clint fell out of love with Dina a long time ago."

Avid E watchers would know that they have a 16-year-old daughter named Morgan together and also a daughter, Francesca, Clint has from his previous relationship with Titanic actress Frances Fisher. Apart from the two girls, Clint is the father of six others. Imagine?

Nick allegedly said Mariah had this to say about his music: "She thinks my music is a big joke.". But then he continued by saying: "But so do I so it doesn't matter. My music is silly, you know what I mean. She makes anthems that change people's lives. I make songs about shaking ya ass. Jay Z is a very brilliant artist I must say. He dropped his new video for the hit track,"Holy Grail," featuring Justin Timberlake, somewhere you would never have guessed: on Facebook. He posted the video exclusively on his Facebook Page ( www.facebook.com/JayZ ) today for free for just 24hours.

I hear Jay Z is the first major artist to release a music video exclusively on Facebook for a full day, according to facebook. It is however not surprising as Jay Z has 17 million fans on Facebook.

Mashable reports that posting the video on his Facebook Page not only instantly reaches those fans, but it adds the potential of reaching all of his fans' friends on the network as well. Facebook also provides a unique opportunity for artists to get feedback on content they post. Has the Kardashian Matriach's show been cancelled?

I woke up today hearing, Kris Jenner's show has been cancelled after a six week trial run. According to sources, FOX has already told Kris the show's been cancelled. "Kris did get a ratings bump for her last show when Kanye West revealed the first baby pic of daughter, North West, with Kim, but that was a one time shot in the arm and it wouldn't be indicative of what the ratings trend would be."

Despite the gist and rumors, Kris tweeted yesterday;

I think the show should be cancelled though! Not impressed by any of the episodes I've seen!

"Twerk" & "Selfie" added to Oxford English Dictionary!

If the world isn't coming to an end, someone please explain to me what exactly is going on.

I heard today that the words "Selfie" and "Twerk" have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary."Selfie" and "Twerk" will be added to the dictionary as part of its quarterly update.

Thanks to social media networking sites like Twitter and Instagram, selfie has been recognized by Oxford as an english word. The definition of Selfie goes thus: "A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website."


For millions of people across the world, Miley Cyrus brought twerking to the limelight but the act has however been around for a very long time. Oxford Dictionaries' Katherine Connor Martin said "There are many theories about the origin of this word, and since it arose in oral use, we may never know the answer for sure," Martin said. "We think the most likely theory is that it is an alteration of work, because that word has a history of being used in similar ways, with dancers being encouraged to 'work it.' The 't' could be a result of blending with another word such as twist or twitch."

The definition of Twerk goes thus: "Dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance"

10 new parties apply for registration - INEC

I read the report below on Punch and I thought, "why aren't we worried about solving our numerous problems? Why do we need 10 new political parties? "

"The Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday said 10 new political parties had applied to it for registration.

Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu, said this in response to one of our correspondent's enquiry to the decision of six governors of the Peoples Democratic Party to float a new party known as the Voice of the People.

He said, "I find it difficult to respond to details and particulars of media speculations about applications to INEC for party registration.

"But it is true that there are more than 10 applications pending currently before the Commission. Application for party registration is a routine experience of INEC.

"Really, you could say the Commission receives an average of one application per week. And this is so routine that I can't begin to proffer particulars of the applications."

When asked whether INEC would continue to register parties, he said, "Yes, of course, because the country's law provides for it.

"When to stop? Not as long as the provision is there in the legal framework but the law also stipulates that parties cannot be registered 90 days before a general election.

"The Law is also not specific on whether members of an existing party can form another party without prior resignation."

Meanwhile, the PDP on Monday reacted to the reported move by six governors in its fold to register a new political party, saying its electoral fortunes in the 2015 elections were not under threat."

I couldn't believe what I was reading today, as I scrolled through popular tabloids. Apparently, after 13 years of marriage, famous actor; Michael Douglas, and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones also a famous actress, have separated. They have two children together, 13 year old Dylan, and 10 year old Carys. The 43year old beauty and her 68 year old husband got married in 2000 and a rep for the couple released a statement confirming the separation today. He said;

" Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment."

Birthday Message From Mercy Johnson To You

Today, I thought of many things I would love to have as birthday gifts and the many dreams I am still pursuing. In all of this I'm not losing sight of the fact that if not for God I might have ended up on the street like the many kids and young adults begging for food and some prostituting to make ends meet.

If we know the circumstances that force some of these people on the street, we would spare a thought for them. I am where I am today purely by the grace of God and the grace of people who believed in me from the word go. Recently, I was at the Boys Reform Home, Oregun, Lagos, the discussion I had with the principal Mr. Kotun and much later with the Special Adviser in charge of all remand homes in Lagos set me thinking about the boys and girls on the street. They have dreams too. Can they fulfill those dreams on the street? The answer will likely be no; because I won't be where I am today if I ended up on the street.

For this reason, Mercy Johnson Foundation will be doing a lot to get kids off the street. We are not asking people for money or donation, I will do all I can with the resources God has given me, and with the support of my husband to help get these kids off the street and set them on the path where they can begin to pursue their dreams. I want to plead with people, fans, friends and colleagues to spare a thought for the children on the street. We can begin by educating people around us, parents, the children and people in charge of children (Oga-house help relationship, teacher-student relationship, and others) on the need to treat every child like the future of Nigeria depends on it. And truth be told, our future will not be all that enjoyable if we let the scourge of 'street-children' fester.

By then, the rich will begin to cry. I learnt Lagos State Government has 11 homes where most children picked from the streets are kept, reformed and reunited with their families after counseling.

That is an initiative Mercy Johnson Foundation will be supporting and beyond that we will be going to different states to help spread the message-Get kids off the street, save the future. From tomorrow, I will begin to replay some of the lessons I learnt at the boys' reform home and we all can contribute to getting the kids off the street. I am grateful to everyone that has sent in a birthday message, tweet and gifts.

As Melvin and Beverly return home, I can't help but ask; "Were the BBA Polls rigged?"

As I sat waiting to hear BBA news that Melvin or Beverly or Elikem won the BBA money, I was shocked to hear Beverly left first. I thought, ok, Melvin will win, but then Melvin was escorted out of the house. I nearly went mad! How will the two Nigerians leave almost together and Cleo's still in there? Then I had hope in Elikem winning, till he walked out of the house too. That was when I just had to say it "BBA was rigged, how can all the west africans leave almost at the same time? And cleo is still in there?". I have nothing againt Cleo or Dillish but in my own point of view they didn't deserve the top two positions.

But when Dillish won? Kai! Nigerians went crazy!

I however do not know how true these rigging allegations are until there is a press statement from Mnet or Big Brother Africa. But I thank God that Uti Nwachukwu, Melvin, Beverly and IK returned to Nigeria safely and were received by family, friends and supporters!

MTV Video Music Awards 2013: Why Miley Cyrus' performance has got everyone talking

The innocent actress, Miley Cyrus we all knew as Hannah Montana has gone into overdrive to kill off her Disney image. I almost screamed as I watched her VMA performance. She licked Robin Thicke for pete's sake. Is that even healthy?
Her performance was enough to drive the online world mad. She made sure she gave many people something to talk about for some time to come.
Does Miley think that she can dance provocatively and still be empowered? Her near-naked performance (dancing in a nude bikini) and the audience reaction caused a debate around what is and isn't appropriate on and off stage from a 20 year old that used to be a Disney starlet.
Miley Cyrus has successfully twerked, gyrated and grinded her way into a new look. She is obviously hell bent on shedding her childhood star image. Hannah Montana has definitely grown up but is the half-naked, tongue-sticky-outy 'package' complete with oodles of sex appeal the way to go?
Miley's performance killed Lady Gaga's opening performance of her new single, Katy Perry's closing rendition of her latest hit and Kanye West's artsy set. She even grabbed more attention than Justin Timberlake's reunion with his 'N Sync band mates.
The performance immediately began trending on Twitter, with a record-breaking 306,000 tweets per minute set during Cyrus' medley of her song 'We Can't Stop' and Thicke's 'Blurred' Lines'.
Fellow Disney star, Selena Gomez, 21, praised the performance, describing it as "amazing. I loved it". Other stars appeared less positive, however. Rihanna appeared to look less than impressed. Stars including Taylor Swift and One Direction also seemingly looked awkward as Cyrus strutted around the stage. Brooke Shields, who played Miley's TV mother in Hannah Montana called Miley's act "desperate".
Miley Cyrus wasn't the only pop singer with edge at the 2013 VMAs. Swift also turned heads. She won best female video, and in her speech praised rumored ex, One Direction member Harry Styles, for inspiring the song.
Conclusively, whether we like it or not, Miley has followed in the footsteps of many other female teen stars who 'grow up' and for them, somehow, that means behaving and looking like a sex symbol. It seems almost inevitable that for many young women in the pop music world, marketing yourself to the masses equates to the old adage of "sex sells" more easily than it should. As Telegraph reported it; Whether Miley will shed her childhood label of Hannah Montana in the process depends on whether people stop referring to her as the former Disney star. And yet, in the light of her most recent performance, this little fact is one that many a column inch will find it hard to ignore.

EVENT REVIEW: Fashion and Music Expo (FAME)

When your friends achieve their dreams, you can't help but hype them. That how I felt when my model friend, Ifeoluwa Akinlemibola launched his own show; F.A.M.E, Fashion And Music Expo. It took place at This Latter House worship centre in Ogba on the 25th of August 2013. The show was powered by This Latter House in conjunction with B&A Consultancy.

Special guests were Omobaba (ace comedian) and Iyibiye (musical performing act).

The show kicked off with a 30mins talk show on fashion, dress sense and appropriate outfits to wear to the right event. Then the mood set in when Euphoria clothing showcased its summer collection with casual wears and a bit of African originality to the outfits showcased. Back to back T Jegz clothing also gave us a good taste of men's fashion wear with a bit of African attire and corporate wears. 

Then there was a comedy act by Omobaba who really got the audience laughing and in the mood for more fashion wears to be showcased.
We then had the flamboyant and elegant Zeel clothing who gave us a good taste of fashion and how he can be creative with his wears this wowed the crowd.

Movie Director Chima Okoroji: “Tonto Dikeh Is A Drunk and Chain Smoker”

Star Actress and 'singer', Tonto Dikeh does not seem to be able to stay out of the news as this time, Nollywood movie director Chima Okoroji, has revealed more of her secrets by saying she is an incurable drunk, chain smoker and very rude while on his movie set in Enugu recently. Chima also exposed that he engaged in a serious war of words with the actress on the set over her rudeness. While filming the movie titled African Pride, he said that Tonto fought with her senior colleagues like Ken Okonkwo, Ngozi Nwosu and many others as they tried to call her to order over her bad attitude and eventually walked out on all of them. This is Chima's words: "While on set, Tonto Dikeh kept on insulting, fighting and quarreling with everybody. She was very rude and uncouth on set. Whenever I tried to correct her, the producer, Kaycee (Filmark), will intervene and beg me not to confront her. But I got pissed and eventually called her to order when I could no longer take her insults and rudeness. She immediately flared up and started insulting me publicly in the presence of my cast and crew members. And when some of her senior colleagues tried to intervene, she also tongue lashed them. Tonto walked out on us the moment she was done with her insults and refused to shoot till the next day after much pleading by the producer. She even threatened to arrest and deal with me for daring to call her to order on set. Another problem I had with Tonto on set was her too much drinking and smoking, (sic), which she used to delay my production. It was so bad that the owners of the house where we were shooting told us to leave because they were tired of inhaling the smoke from her incessant smoking. She needs help and prayers. Tonto messed up my set, insulted me and many stars on set, including Ken Okonkwo, Ngozi Nwosu, Prince Nwafor and others by walking out on my set for a whole day, because I called her to order," Chima Okoroji concluded.

BlackBerry Is Officially For Sale

It's official. The beleaguered BlackBerry is up for sale.The company announced it had formed a special committee to explore "strategic alternatives" for itself. The company specifically said that it's trying to "enhance value and increase scale in order to accelerate BlackBerry 10 deployment.

However, BlackBerry noted in the release that alternatives could range from joint ventures to partnerships to a sale of its operation to another firm. Now that BlackBerry has announced that it's exploring alternative strategies that include selling off the company, talk among financial analysts has naturally turned to what firm would potentially buy the troubled device manufacturer. Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley thinks that BlackBerry's options may be limited because no company will buy it at its current market cap.

We struggle to identify potential buyers that would pay a premium to the current share price, Walkley writes while reiterating a Sell rating on BlackBerry shares.

Outrage Over Adeboye’s 3-Km Long Church Auditorium-PM News, Lagos

The announcement last Saturday that the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, would build a three kilometre long auditorium in Nigeria has triggered outrage among Nigerians who call the humongous investment a waste and another cofirmation that Nigerian churches are veering off the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, announced during the Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp in Mowe area of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, that the existing auditorium which was built in 2000 with a capacity to sit one million people at once could
no longer accommodate millions of people who attend service there.
Adeboye said that the new auditorium which would be built at the mission's camp ground at km 46, Lagos-Ibadan expressway would also be three kilometres wide. This will make the auditorium a humongous 9km square auditorium, and one of the top ten churches in the world in
area size.
The Holy Ghost Service was one of the programmes lined up for the 61st Annual Convention of the church and Adeboye promised that the project will start soonest and will be completed before the 62nd Convention in August 2014. He solicited for donations from members toward making the project a reality.
But not long after the announcement was made public on www.pmnewsnigeria.com that Nigerians reacted angrily on social media with many describing churches in the country as business centres.
According to Lookman, Adeboye should rather build a three-kilometre farm land and employ a million unemployed youths in Nigeria instead of wasting money on a building.
"So what impact will this have on the common man? More queues on Lagos-Ibadan Express Way, making life unbearable for travellers on Lagos-Ibadan route whenever programmes are going on," said another reader.
"While I commend such vision, I think the billions of naira that will be used for such project could do the common man good if such is used to build affordable hospitals, schools, scholarships and provide basic needs for the common man," he added.
According to Godson, Nigerians are hungry and unemployment rate is sky-high but churches are wasting their resources on buildings and other investments rather than tackling poverty.
"Why not use that money to build a non-profit organisation and employ our youths?" Godson queried.
To Naubiko, despite constant prayers, deliverance services and vigils in these big churches, Nigeria remains stuck in darkness and corruption.
"If they like, they should convert the whole of Oyo State and Ogun State to church there's still nothing to show for it . No light. Even the General Overseer has more bodyguards than government officials and moves about in Helicopter / Private jet," he said, adding that the road to Adeboye's church is a death trap.
According to Ade, "building long auditourium means more tithe. For God's sake these churches can industrialise Nigeria!"
To Moses, Ngeria needs job and not competing in being among the largest church in the world.
"We can see clearly that all the countries that have these large churches are economically stable in terms of infrastructure and job creation , unlike Nigeria that any idea by church only benefits the immediate people at the top . We read about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,they were all farmers creating jobs for their followers and not people that expand churches," Moses said. According to a reader who described himself as Folo, religion is the bane of Nigeria.
"I have said it time without number that religion is the bane of our country. Remove religion from the affairs of man and there will be peace. Boko Haram leader Shekau dares Obama in video

-44 killed inside mosque

Despite being declared a global terrorist and a $7million reward placed on him by the United States (US), Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is still talking tough.
Shekau, in a video yesterday, dared US President Barack Obama, French President Francois Hollande and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to come for him, saying: "They are no match for me."
He spoke amid reports that 44 people were killed on Sunday in a mosque while praying in Konduga, some 35 kilometres outside Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, which is the epicentre of the sect's activities.
The bodies, according to Associated Press (AP), were counted yesterday "although the deadly attack by militants took place on Sunday morning."
In the video obtained by Agence France Presse (AFP), Shekau, while claiming responsibility for the recent killings in some parts of the North, said: "I'm challenging Obama."
Throwing similar challenges to Hollande and Netanyahu, he said he was in "good health", pointing out that there is nothing to fear from the military operation in some parts of the Northeast.
The military campaign began after the Federal Government declared a state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states on May 14.
"You have not killed Shekau," he said in the video distributed through a local intermediary in a similar manner to previous Boko Haram messages.
Seated on a short stool with a kalashnikov resting on his right shoulder, Shekau said Boko Haram was "responsible" for several deadly raids over the past month.
These include attacks on the police and the military in Malam Fatori and Bama, which sparked clashes in which at least 35 people died, according to the military.
The video contained what Shekau claimed was a footage of Boko Haram gunmen opening fire on the military in Bama, using heavy weapons mounted on flat-bed trucks.
Shekau also referred to fighting in Baga and Gamboru Ngala near the border with Cameroon.
The Boko Haram insurgency is estimated to have claimed more than 3,600 lives since 2009, including killings by security forces.
On May 12, Shekau claimed responsibility for attacks that left scores dead in Baga and Bama in a 12-minute video which also showed some women and children held hostage by the terror group.
Shekau, who spoke in Hausa in the video said: "We are the ones that carried out the Bama attack. We also carried out the attack in Baga".
In another video after the declaration of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, the sect claimed to have recorded a few losses while forcing the military to retreat on many occasions.
"Since we started this ongoing war which they call state of emergency … in some instances soldiers who faced us turned and ran," Shekau said.
He claimed that the military threw down their arms in flight, just as he urged like-minded Islamists in countries, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq to support the sect's war towards enthroning an Islamic state in Nigeria.
In January last year, after the Madalla bombing, Shekau in a 15-minute video, said the security agencies could not overcome his group.
Shekau rejected the government's amnesty offer, saying the group could only hold talks with the government in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Yesterday at the Presidential Villa, President Goodluck Jonathan met with top security chiefs. Although no statement was issued after the meeting, it is believed that the activities of Boko Haram topped the agenda.
At the meeting were National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Azubuike Ihejirika, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba, Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar and Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS) Ita Ekpenyong.
Others are Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Anyim Pius Anyim, Minister of Police Affairs Caleb Olubolade and Minister of State for Defence Erelu Olusola Obada.
Also yesterday, in Sokoto, the military announced the arrest of a Boko Haram suspect, Mubarak aka Dan-Hajiya, after a raid on a hideout on Sunday.
Officers and men of the Brigade raided the hideout of some suspected terrorists on Sunday night which led to the arrest of Dan-Hajiya.
Spokesman of the Brigade Captain Yahaya Musa told reporters that the operation was jointly conducted with SSS operatives.
According to him, the operation was in continuation of the series of raids being carried out by the security agencies to rid Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states of some of the fleeing insurgents from Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.
He said: "Troops of the brigade have in the past few days intensified raids on the hideouts of these suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
"We had also made several arrests and investigations are ongoing, so this is the only one we can authoritatively confirm now.
"But I can, however, authoritatively confirm that there were no deaths recorded either on the side of the insurgents or the military, SSS.''
Musa said arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspect's house at the Nakasari area of Sokoto.
They are: "Three AK 47 rifles, one riot gun, 153 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, explosives, three cartons of acid, knock-outs, chemicals and thermometers, among others.
He appealed to residents to disregard rumours and remain supportive of the security agencies.

Another Kardashian Dilemma: Is Scott Mason's father?

Kourtney Kardashian is apparently facing a joint custody bid from some male model. He is demanding a court order DNA test to prove HE is Mason's father. The model, Michael Girgenti, is saying he had unprotected sex with Kourtney after they met on a photoshoot in August 2008. He has filed paperwork at Los Angeles County Superior Court in a bid to get joint custody of her three-year-old child, Mason.

Kourtney's lawyer Todd Wilson has called the allegations 'absurd' and a 'shameful attempt to gain publicity and profit from fictional stories'.

According to TMZ.com, Michael wants the judge to order DNA tests for Kourtney, Mason and her long-term boyfriend Scott Disick, Mason - who is father to her daughter Penelope, 13 months. A hearing has been set for next month. The lawsuit documents the alleged relationship between Kourtney and Michael, which he claims heated up in March 2009, when she told him her relationship with Scott was 'on the outs' and 'she wanted to hang.' Michael claims they had full sex and as soon as she had given birth to Mason - born on 14 December 2009 - he tried contacting her.

The allegations first came to light in March earlier this year when he told In Touch magazine: 'After [Mason] was born, and I saw photos of him, I began to wonder. I would definitely want to acknowledge Mason if he's my kid - he deserves to know his real father.'

Ways to prevent cancer by experts

Integrative and traditional medicine practitioners have said cancer can be prevented. It could be prevented by eating naturally grown plants such as fruits and vegetables and engaging in physical activities, among others, they said.

Integrative practitioners are those who have understanding and flair for both natural and alternative medicine. They include Energy medicine practitioners, naturopaths, iridologists, chiropractors, among others.

According to the Chairman, Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB), Dr Bunmi Omoseyindemi, cancer was not common in Nigeria until recently because of sedentary lifestyle and environmental pollution.

Dr Omoseyindemi, who spoke during a two-day maiden wellness retreat on cancer organised by the Natural Integrated Medicine Practitioners Association (NIMPA) in Lagos, urged Nigerians to go back to nature and its essence to reduce disease burdens in the country, "Many diseases, especially cancer, can be prevented through integrated medicine, such as chiropractic, acupuncture and colour therapy, among others.

He identified second-hand household equipment and electronics with high radiation as cancer triggers, which pollute the environment because of their strong radiations and other dangerous emissions.

He said findings showed that most prostate cancer patients who had surgery die shortly after it, stressing that natural medicine have proved useful in the prevention and management of the disease. He added that people should go back to nature and natural cure for serious ailments that have defied orthodox cure.

For their practice to be accepted, he said: "Traditional and integrative medicine practitioners should ensure what they are doing is evidence-based to demonstrate that they know what they are offering."

Dr Omoseyindemi said the Lagos State Government has set up a committee to look into traditional medicine research, adding that it would be carried out at the Department of Pharmacognocy, Lagos State University (LASU).

NIMPA President Dr Isaac Ayodele said healthy lifestyle is important in the prevention of the disease. "A century ago, one in 33 people developed cancer. But today, in five people you have one person with the disease.

"Cancer is expensive to manage, a patient may need N50 million to do chemotherapy and to live through the disease. Most orthodox medicine practitioners often use chemotherapy to kill cancer cells. They also use radiation to burn the cancer cells and surgery to remove the affected part of the body. But this is still not adequate as patients don't enjoy total cure."

He said: "Cancer sufferers should connect with nature. They will get better, despite living with cancer. Such people need to try other alternative ways of healing because cancer is a problem with a solution. It is not a death sentence," he said.

Registrar, LSTMB, Dr Bodunrin Oluwa, said there should be knowledge transfer to develop the capacity of practitioners.

He said more programmes need to be organised to keep the practitioners abreast of developments in the sector.

WAEC releases 91.38% of May/June examination results

Yesterday afternoon, the WAEC released the results of 1,543,683 candidates who sat for its May/June 2013 Secondary School Certificate Examination.

According to reports, this represents 91.38 per cent of 1,689,188 candidates who registered for the examination, The Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC, Dr Charles Eguridu, announced the results on Wednesday when he addressed a news conference in Lagos. Eguridu said 889,636 candidates obtained six credits and above, while 1,074,065 others obtained five credits and above. According to him, the results of 145,505 others, representing 8.62 per cent, were being processed due to some errors. "These errors are traceable to the candidates as well as their schools in the course of registration or writing the examination.''

The HNO explained that such errors were being corrected by the council to enable the affected candidates to get their results fully processed and released subsequently. Eguridu disclosed that the council cancelled the result of 2,176 candidates. He explained that the cancellation was due to multiple entries by the candidates discovered while processing the results. "In line with the council's regulation, the entire results of such candidates who have been found guilty of this act had been cancelled, " he said.

The HNO also said 112,865 results of candidates, representing 6.75 per cent, were withheld due to examination malpractice. Eguridu pointed out that the cases were being investigated and that reports of the investigations would be presented to the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) for consideration.

Further breakdown revealed that 1,225,591 candidates obtained credits and above in four subjects, 1,353,273 obtained credits and above in three subjects, while 1,465,581 obtained credits and above in two subjects.

Eguridu said that of the 121 blind candidates, 117 attempted it while 24 obtained five credits in five subjects including English Language. "Blind candidates do not take Mathematics and Science Practical in WASSCE diets", he said. He hailed security agencies for providing the much needed security throughout the conduct of the examination.

Khloe Kardashian's marriage: Rocked again with another infidelity claim!

When the first claim came out about Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian's husband cheating on her, I couldn't believe it. Infact, I was stunned! I always looked at them as the perfect couple! *sigh* I guess nothing can ever be perfect.

This new babe Polina Polonsky, a lawyer, alleges she had 'six-week summer affair' with Lamar Odom. Star Magazine claims the professional basketball player, Lamar Odom was cheating on his wife, Khloe Kardashian, with lawyer, Polina Polonsky. They even claim to have proof to that effect. They claim Polina passed a lie detector (polygraph) test to prove she is telling the truth.

According to Star magazine, Lamar and Polina first met at Los Angeles' Roosevelt Hotel on June 2nd, where the sportsman had been staying for a week amid marital difficulties with Khloe. Polina said: 'I was under the impression that he had left Khloe, and that's why he was living at the Roosevelt. He acted completely available and we definitely had a mutual attraction.'

Polina claims to have had a six-week long affair with Lamar. She said she had her first kiss with him on June 9th, before consummating their romance on June 13th at her apartment. She said: 'After we had sex, Lamar stayed the night with me. The next day we went back to the Roosevelt. I stayed there with him for the next couple of nights.'

However, Polina said Khloe soon found out Lamar was cheating. She and her mother, Kris Jenner, made an impromptu visit to The Roosevelt Hotel. Getting no answer after knocking on what they believed to be Lamar's door, Khloe allegedly kicked down the door, before realising she had the wrong room. Khloe and Kris then found the right room and reportedly confronted Lamar, who was on his own as Polina was at her apartment at the time. Lamar was so infuriated by his wife's behaviour that, on June 22nd, he temporarily moved into her apartment, where he stayed until July 8th. Khloe is said to have then found out where Polina lived. She went over with her mum. Polina said: 'I couldn't believe they found where I lived and came to my apartment! They were knocking on the door, but Lamar refused to answer.'

Na wa o! And this is not the first time that Lamar has been accused of cheating on Khloe. Y'all remember that it was allegedly claimed that Lamar had been cheating on Khloe with 29-year-old brunette, Jennifer Richardson, after meeting in a Washington, D.C strip club a year ago. It was also initially claimed that Khloe had kicked the NBA star out of their home, a source close to the reality star later told website,MailOnline that; "They're more in love than ever. Khloe did not kick Lamar out of the house, they are 100 per cent fine."
