This Saheed Balogun must be broke or bored right about now because I heard he's suing Fathia concerning the "Balogun" name. Pls note that Saheed and Fathia Balogun have been separated long before now. I don't even know if they got an actual divorce. But Saheed doesn't want Fathia using his name anymore. I hear Saheed threatened Fathia, last year, to stop using his name, but she didn't listen and now he is taking the matter to court. 

In an interview shortly after Saheed asked her to stop using his name, Fathia said, "I laugh, my name is Fathia Balogun and it's going to remain Balogun; nobody can ever change that and nobody can stop me from answering that name."

Soldier's Murder: Adebolajo & Adebowale's Trial Begins

 
Six months after Michael Adebolajo, 28, and Michael Adebowale, 22, gruesomely murdered 25-year-old Lee Rigby in Woolwich, south London, their trial has begun in Old Baileys Court
 
The two defendants, both Britons of Nigerian descent, denied murdering Rigby, attempting to murder a police officer on the day Rigby died and conspiracy to murder a police officer.
 
So, during the trial, the jury was told not to be influenced by media reports of the events that led to Rigby's death, rather they were shown CCTV evidence of his painful final moments.
 
Trying to justify their act, one of the defendants had said:
The only reason we have killed this man today is because Muslims are dying daily by British soldiers, and this British soldier is one.
By Allah, if I saw your mother with a bucket, I would help her... But we are forced by the Koran that we must fight them as they fight us.
Prosecutors  also told the court that Adebolajo made a number of comments after he was shot by police.
These included:

I am a Muslim extremist, this may be the only chance you meet one. Your people have gone to Afghanistan and raped and killed our women, I am seeking retribution, I wouldn't stoop so low as to rape and kill women. 
 I did it for my God. I wish the bullets had killed me so I can join my friends and family... I want to thank the person who shot me, because it is what Allah would have wanted. 
I love Allah more than my children."
Trial resumes on Monday.

4 Arriving Passengers Collapse At Muritala Mohammed Airport Lagos Due To Heat!

And I said it the last time I was in the arrival lounge! "Someone will still collapse here"! The place is too damn hot. For an international airport's arrival lounge,that is more than a sorry case. 

So I heard that there was serious chaos at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, yesterday evening when four passengers who had just arrived from Atlanta, collapsed due to excessive heat at the arrival hall of the airport terminal.

According to Leadership Newspaper, the passengers, who had arrived aboard Delta Airline, were waiting for baggage reclaim when the 4 who had just arrived from the US where the temperature is much cooler, got overwhelmed by the heat in the arrival area and collapsed.

A source close to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) told LEADERSHIP Weekend that the cooling system at the airport was not working when the incident happened and that it might be due to the current remodelling of the airport.

It was learnt that two of the passengers were rushed to an undisclosed hospital in an ambulance belonging to the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)

In his reaction to the development, the general manager, public affairs of FAAN, Yakubu Dati, said the situation was exaggerated by online reports.
Another FAAN official contacted who preferred anonymity said the unhealthy situation at the arrival hall of the airport was not new to most air travellers who had had to contend with it as they passed through immigration and baggage collection. 

For those coming from Europe it is like coming from an extremely cold environment to an extremely hot environment and passengers have to sweat it out as they go through immigration formalities and then through the tortuous collection of their in luggage," he said.

So I heard that The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Edo State, has condemned the inhuman treatment the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole gave the widow. The PDP has, however, asked the widow to come to their office and get the sum of N250,000 to help cushion the effects her siezed goods will have on her. This was contained in a press release signed by the state chairman, Dan Orbih.

Edo PDP watched with consternation Governor Adams Oshiomhole's brutal, inhuman and merciless treatment of a widow street-trader whose wares he ordered seized and who he unfeelingly told to '…go and die' even as she knelt down in fervent protestations and appeals to his pity on a helpless widow.The governor's actions are appalling, insensate, disgraceful, indecent, cruel and below board.

It is clear that he does not care much about the well being of the people as he pretentiously avowed.

Our hearts go to that hapless widow in this her time of travails and through her, to other widows who have been oppressed by the unfriendly policies of the administration in Edo State.

The PDP, Edo State will not let any Edo person 'to go and die' if it can help it, especially not hardworking people like that widow who are engaged in lawful enterprises that are, in themselves, not easy to carry on.

To this end, our party has instituted an endowment fund for all widows and oppressed people in the state and by this release, we invite the widow captured in the video of the encounter with Governor Oshiomhole to come to the PDP Secretariat on No. 70, Sapele Road, at 11am on Tuesday December 3, 2013 to receive a first-installment sum of N250,000.00 to cushion the pain, trauma and loss occasioned by her mistreatment and the seizure of the items she sells.

Governance is about the people and as a responsible National Institution, Edo PDP cannot be unconcerned about the wrong treatment of indigenes of the state to whom the present administration promised heaven just to win their votes.

We will continue to stand in the gap to ensure that Edo people are deservedly fairly treatment.

If Governor Oshiomhole believes that Edo People sinned by voting him into office, let him remember that he will account for his actions, if not to the people because he apparently does not think much of them, but to God Almighty in the short or long run.

We thank all those who have been humanely concerned about the plight of the widow and have stood out vehemently against the crying shame that was the insensitive action of a governor who seems bent on repaying electoral favor with ingratitude.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole Apologizes Over His 'Go And Die' Comment To Widow

So yesterday a video leaked online of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole telling a widow, during an inspection tour on Mission Road, Benin, to go and die because she was begging for her wares, which she sold on the streets illegally, not to be seized.


Gov. Adams Oshiomhole has apologized for the comments he made to the widow. According to NAN, the Governor said he made the comments in anger and he now regrets it. The governor's apology was made when the leadership of the Federation of Muslim Women's Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), paid him a courtesy visit in Benin. He noted that though the challenge of modern times had bestowed on the shoulders of some women and single mothers the status of bread winners of their homes, such should not be used as an accuse to flout the laws.

He shouldn't have! Nigerians were ready to go bonkers on his ass! Smh!

GQ released their list of 25 Least Influential People Of 2013. I don't know why this list should even exist but what tripped me was the fact that newly born Prince George, Obama and a few others made the list. Why include a new born though?

Peter Okoye Finally Reacts To Story That His Family Is Against His Marriage To Lola

 
Peter Okoye in a new interview with Encomium has denied the stories that his family members were not in support of his marriage to wife Lola.
Or that that was the reason his elder brother Jude didn't attend his wedding.
 
In the chat, Peter said:

Is there any iota of truth in the tale that your family didn't support the wedding?

That is very far from being the truth. I saw some of those reports and was full of laughter. Everybody is just laughing because the reports are like comedy to us. Honestly,
there is no iota of truth in the rumour. But it's one of the prices you pay as a celebrity, so I remain focused.

How would you describe your wife?

Honestly, she is a wonderful woman. She has virtually all the qualities that every man would want in his ideal woman. She's caring, loving, God-fearing, hard working – just name it, that's my wife for you.

What are the sterling qualities that endeared her to your heart?

I just said that now. No man will not want to spend the rest of his life with a woman that possesses the qualities I mentioned.

Peter & Lola's original love story, despite the age difference!

Peter Obumneme Okoye of P-Square and Lola Omotayo's love story is compelling and amazing.The couple have been in a relationship for over eight years before they finally tied the knot on Sunday, November 17, 2013.


In an interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly in April 2008, the then Business development Director, FK:G2 (a top marketing outfit) had poured out her heart about her relationship with Peter:
My agency handles some of British American Tobacco brands and P-Square was doing a show for us at one of our events in Enugu. Though I had met Peter a couple of times before then, at the show there was some chemistry. 
He asked for my number and I refused giving it to him. I told him if you really want to know me, you have to find my number. So he took it as a task and found my number and the rest is history."
Lola, said to be 35 back then, and the popular singer in his 20s, was not disturbed by the age difference.

Her defence:
Like I said, Peter is an old soul and he always tells me that I'm like a 23-year old. Age is just a number. Right now, you can see it around the world. Demi Moore, Usher and some known people. Even in Nigeria here, they are dating people far older than their age. So, we shouldn't base it on the age factor. He doesn't make me feel like he's younger than me."
On the future of their relationship, Lola who now has two children for the music super star had also told ENCOMIUM Weekly, she is not really particular about marriage.

The truth is I'm not particular about marriage. Marriage is not something you rush into. To me, it is over rated in Nigeria.  
Here, they say marriage completes a woman, but I don't believe in that. There is so much that completes a woman and marriage is not it. I've never focused on that. I'm not the little girl who dreams of her wedding day. I'm not afraid to be alone.  
I pray, I am not going to end up alone for the rest of my life, I want a life partner. But the tag, marriage is not something I think is the ultimate. I would take my time rather than rush into marriage only to later discover that it is not what to expect. 
And Peter, as well, is dealing with his own career and he wants to focus on that. And you know, may be in a year's time, I would be ready to get marriage and if he's not ready then, we get to go our separate ways. The truth of the matter is that marriage is not in the picture for me right now."
Lola further narrated how she was struck by cupid's arrow: she confessed they were friends for a while before they got intimate:

"Not that long. He was too fine, so I had to kiss him. In the beginning, we were coming from different walks of life and there were later adjustments. When I'm into something, I'm into it, 100 percent. People just look at the social status thing. He's an entertainer, she's a career girl, but it's not about that. He's not the first artist I've dated, not a Nigerian though. He was an international act."
Peter of P-Square had always told his family and friends it is either Lola or nobody. Even when a former beauty queen and a struggling rapper allegedly got romantically involved with him, he had to disown her for the sake of his love for Lola Omotayo.


Despite their different cultural backgrounds and career paths, the popular artiste's love for Lola did not wane. Even when she got pregnant with their first baby, he didn't shy away from his responsibility.
"The pregnancy is mine and nothing on earth can make me deny it. After all, I didn't impregnate a street girl. The person carrying my baby is an independent and responsible lady who I love with all my heart. So, the baby is mine and I'm proud to be the father. As for marriage, I don't have plans for it yet."

Peter of Psquare calls Emmy Collins 'frustrated'!

I couldn't help but laugh when I read Peter's tweets yesterday. 

Here's exactly what happened. A few days ago, Emmy Collins (a popular critic,blogger and designer) wrote a post about Peter and his friends' wedding outfits. In Emmy's view Peter and his friends decked themselves in "hideous polyester kaftans".
 
Emmy wrote;

"If you guys don`t offer accolades to me for restraining myself from critiquing Lola and
Peter Okoye during their wedding, I will claim it in Jesus name, Amen.  

Yes, there were enough talking points from that wedding yet I refused to touch them even to the extent that a few comments insinuated that I was playing what someone described as "Pasha". 
Well, I must say that Peter and the dudes on this image were totally off the mark when they decided to deck themselves in this hideous polyester kaftans.  

As if the fabrics weren't disastrous enough, the quality of stitching employed in putting it together compares with the worst I have witnessed so far considering the fact that it is Peter`s wedding for crying out loud and of course he is not short of a bob or two. 

Before you move on to the next image, please work your eyes to the hemming of the kaftans especially that of the guys that are flanking Peter on the left and right."


Peter obviously heard about it or even read the posts and didn't find it funny at all. He had to find out who Emmy was via twitter and said Emmy must be frustrated.

Sharia Police Smash 240,000 Bottles Of Beer In Kano! (Photos)

In their latest move to put a stop to behaviour deemed 'immoral', the Police enforcing Islamic law in Kano state on Wednesday, destroyed 240,000 bottles of beer they had confiscated from trucks coming into the city.

According to AFP, the Sharia law enforcers called Hisbah, launched sweeping crackdowns in Kano since September, following a state government directive to cleanse the commercial state of "immoral" practices.

So, on Wednesday, a large bulldozer smashed the confiscated bottles to shouts of  "Allahu Ahkbar" (God is great) from supporters outside the Hisbah headquarters in Kano.
Kegs containing more than 8,000 litres of a local alcoholic brew called burukutu and 320,000 cigarettes were also destroyed.

Kano's Hisbah chief, Aminu Daurawa, at the bottle-breaking ceremony,  said he had the ardent hope this will bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances. We hope this measure will help restore the tarnished image of Kano," said Daurawa.

The 9,000-strong moral police force works alongside the civilian police but also has other duties, including community development work and dispute resolution.
Alcohol is typically easy to find in Kano, including at hotels and bars in neighbourhoods like Sabon Gari, inhabited by the city's sizeable Christian minority. But the Hisbah boss vowed that this was set to change.

"We hereby send warning to unrepentant offenders that Hisbah personnel will soon embark on an operation into every nook and cranny of the state to put an end to the sale and consumption of alcohol and all other intoxicants," Daurawa said.

Ogun State FRSC Officials Tear-Gas 6Months Old Baby, 6 & 8-Year Old Kids To Impound Car

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Ogun State sector unleashed terror on  three school children in Abeokuta, yesterday, by  tear-gassing  them while attempting to impound their father's new vehicle.

An eye-witness told Vanguard that the incident occurred when the  children -Ibrahim  Folorunsho (8), Basirat Folorunsho(6) and Faridat Folorunsho (6 months) were being conveyed to school by their father in company of their  mother.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the  officials of FRSC  flagged down the Mitsubishi space wagon car in Omida area of the town to impound the car.


It was gathered that the  alleged offence of the father of the kids was that  he was  driving an unregistered car  which prompted the officials of FRSC  to attempt to seize it.

One of the corps allegedly tear-gassed the occupants of the car  before  the vehicle was  driven to the sector headquarters at Government Reservation Area, GRA, Ibara, Abeokuta.

The tear-gas caused serious discomfort to the kids who were heading to Lawson Private School in Kuto area of the town.

The kids were seen profusely shedding tears as a result of the teargas, a development which attracted many passers-by expressing displeasure over the  action.

The people in the area  offered first  aid treatment to the children, before they  regained  stability, while six months old had to be rushed to hospital by the mother for adequate medical attention.


When our correspondent visited the headquarters of the commission, no officer was ready to talk to the press.

Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher Are Finally Legally Divorced!

Remember it was almost two years ago that I announced right on this blog that Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were ending their six-year marriage. Word on the streets now, however, is that the pair are finally, legally divorced.

TMZ reported that the divorce was finalized on November 26. The obvious reason the divorce took this long is money. Demi initially wanted spousal support even though she was worth way more millions than Ashton. But later backed off the claim. I hear Ashton had to give her more than he was supposed to before they reached a financial settlement.

Nigerian man killed by a lorry after storming out of car during row with his wife

A Nigerian man was killed on a motorway after getting out of a car on the way to the airport after a fight with his wife over their credit card.

Nahinmu Nicholas had stormed out of the Ford Focus with his suitcases, saying he was going to hitch-hike to Heathrow, but was knocked down by a lorry in the morning darkness.
His wife had pulled over on what they both thought was the hard shoulder of the M25, not realising that it was a live lane because of roadworks. A coroner was told that lorry driver Martin Hook was unable to avoid Mr Nicholas as he suddenly caught sight of him.
His 13-tonne bread lorry also struck the couple's car in the accident just six minutes after they had stopped on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 at junction 6 for Godstone,  Surrey, at around 4.30am on April 10.
Florence Olokun-Ola told the inquest in Woking, Surrey, that her husband was going to Nigeria alone for 12 days and that the fight started because she wanted their bank card while he was away. 'The argument became very aggressive and his voice changed,' she added.

Mrs Olokun-Ola, who had earlier told how financial problems had caused tension in their relationship, said she no longer felt comfortable driving and pulled over to what she thought was the hard shoulder.
She added: 'He took off his seat belt. As soon as the car stopped he took the keys and opened the boot and took out his luggage. He put it by the crash barrier.'
In an attempt to get her husband back in the car Mrs Olokun-Ola drove forward a bit, but he started to walk back down the carriageway  trying to thumb a lift.

Then she felt the force of the  collision as the lorry struck the rear of her car.
'I got out the car and at first I was angry because he didn't come  running over to see if I was okay,' she said. She then discovered her  husband's body and ran back to the car to dial 999.
Mr Hook said he was travelling through the roadworks at 50mph. 'The next thing I knew was there was a dark shadow in front of me,' he added. 'I turned straight away to the centre of the carriageway.'
A post-mortem examination  concluded that Mr Nicholas died as a result of severe head injuries.

Accident reconstruction officer PC Dominic Gibson said that the stretch of the M25 where the accident  happened was unlit. He said there were signs warning that the hard shoulder was now a live lane.

Assistant Surrey Coroner Michael Burgess recorded a verdict that Mr Nicholas, of Dartford, Kent, died as a result of a road traffic collision.

Each time I read the nasty comments about Lola Omotayo Okoye my heart gets heavy. I do not know her in person- just like most of you. She has been called "old", "shameless" even a "gold digger"! Some "kind" people even empathize with her and "understand" that Peter married her because of her kids.  

Let's get a few things straight; 

Nobody has the right to choose another person's spouse.

I was in school with Psquare, Peter had a girlfriend-Ada-whom he was crazy about. Ada is a splitting image of Lola...does that imply anything?

Age is not the determinant of a good marriage; either party could be older.

Prince Charles married "much younger" Diana, how did that go? How old is his present wife-whom he loved all along?

Prince Williams forsook all the "younger girls" in England and married an older bride.

Sullivan Chime married a "much younger" Clara; again, how did that go?

For those who went as far as calling Lola a runs girl, who sleeps with her "uncles", do you know this lady? Do you know this for a fact or is it just hear say? Why defame an innocent lady who is minding her own business? Do you think Peter is a fool?

For those who justify these rumours with the story of her living in a "mansion" in Ikoyi-shebi you people say she is old? Do you know she has a career, did you expect that at her "old age" she wouldn't have risen through the ranks?

For those of you who see only young brides as a wise choice, it is because you haven't gotten married yet. There are some childish attributes the young wife will have that will make you almost regret the marriage-that is if you don't do that eventually.

Peter knew very well what he was doing. He wants peace, companionship and joy. A mature and experienced mother for his kids. He saw all the "young girls" world over before he made his beautiful choice.

A healing river was reportedly discovered in Nachi Oji River in Enugu State, last week.
A mystery to the people of Nachi for decades nick named the "Pool of Bethsaida" and appears every 20 years, as confirmed by the indigenes.
 
This year, the pool was discovered by fulani herdsmen who were on their way to feed their cattle. According to them, they passed the spot where the water usually came from and there wasn't any water, but on their way back they discovered the whole place has been covered with water.

According to the oldest man in the community, the water appears every 20 or 30 years, they first saw
it in 1971.
He also confirmed that various diseases and ailments have been cured at the pool.

The water stays for 1 to 2 weeks then dries up, and most people who visited the area gave testimonies on how they received healing from the water.

Lamar Odom's alleged $10m request to end his marriage to Khloe

Could this be true? 

I hear there's a report on National Enquirer claiming that Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian's estranged husband, is demanding $10million in a divorce to keep his mouth shut concerning the Kardashians. Plus I hear he wants his ring back.
