When I heard this from Koch on the radio this morning, I couldn't stop laughing. Charlie Hunnam finally caved in to the 50 shades of Grey fans. They were brutal with Charlie for being cast for the lead role as Christian Grey. I guess the criticism got too much and he decided to drop out. The producers however have to look for a replacement soon as they start to shoot in 20 days! Wow!
Read New York Times' report below;
"Fifty Shades of Grey" is in search of a new male lead. The British actor Charlie Hunnam has dropped out of the film adaptation of E. L. James's best-selling novel because of a scheduling conflict, according to a statement by Universal Pictures. Mr. Hunnam was cast as the wealthy entrepreneur Christian Grey in September alongside the actress Dakota Johnson, who is to play Anastasia Steele.The statement said that Mr. Hunnam's "immersive TV schedule," which includes a starring role on "Sons of Anarchy" on FX, would not allow him to "adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. Hunnam was also "overwhelmed" by the unexpected amount of attention he received from the news media and fans of the book regarding his casting.The film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson ("Nowhere Boy"), is scheduled to begin shooting next month in Vancouver, British Columbia, and to be released in the United States in August.
