As part of my efforts to increase the awareness of Balance Disorders, on the assignment I previously told you guys about I decided to launch a fun campaign challenge called #FindYourBalance.  It's something you can easily do and pass across to everybody you know to get involved. This will help spread the message that Balance Disorders are real and not just mere talk.

JK PRESENTS BALANCE DISORDER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN!!

published on Thursday, 30 October 2014

I'm so excited, you guys, for this assignment! In one of my modules in school, PR for the digital era, we were given an assignment to plan and launch a campaign for a human-interest cause of our choice.  I chose Balance Disorders as people very close to me suffer from the ailment and not much is known to the man on the street about it!

Looking back....was being a worry-wart worth it?

Oh! How I remember this day! I have definitely come a long way! I remember how excited I was to be graduating from high school. The excitement that came from planning our prom, our outfits for breakfast, hairstyles, designs for our white lace, makeup, nails... you name it, we planned for it!

JK PREMIER: DANCE FLOOR- PAULETTE

published on Wednesday, 15 October 2014

My avid readers know that one of my major aims with this blog is to promote young talents in entertainment and fashion. I haven't lost that passion. I'm so excited to introduce to you guys, Javasy Yard Records' very own PAULETTE. This young lady's music really is like a breath of fresh air. Her song is so different from what were used to. Her sound sort of reminds me of Temi Dollface's.

This is the second post in my "If I were president" series and I've been receiving mixed reports concerning it. Apparently, it's too dry. Some people want me to make it a little interesting while others want me to probe the participants more! Well, all views have been duly noted and will be worked on.

In the meantime, here's another from my ever busy friend Omololu. Enjoy!

Hii guys!!
So I've been thinking of innovative ideas to keep you glued to my blog and I thought, why not feature my friends in some posts where they'd be talking about a few of their views on certain issues?! Good Idea right? Right!
Well I thought to myself and decided that this week's issue will be titled, "If I were president for a month!" Sounds funny right?
Well, yeah! It is!

If you don't like where you are, move! You are not a tree!

A few minutes ago, I was just lying in bed waiting for sleep to take me away when I stumbled on this quote on my phone, and thought, why not share it with you guys?

Anyone seeing it for the first time would laugh and think inwardly about how factual it is, but do people actually do this? Make advantageous moves?

What is news?

My pick of a definition of news is the definition given by the Merriam-Webster dictionary. News is 'new information or a report about something that has happened recently'.

Celebrating Nigeria at 54.......

published on

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY NIGERIA!

I know with everything Nigeria has been through in the past few months, this is bitter sweet but it is, nonetheless, a celebration. You can not deny that with Her weaknesses, Nigeria is still strong. Boko Haram hasn't broken her neither has ebola, corruption, or any of the many issues she is facing.
Fellow Nigerians please celebrate your great country today, because if we don't, who will?

Love you, that's the first step.....!

I stumbled on this site one day; http://phoenixrisingcollective.org/ and was immediately inspired to do this piece. The initiative sees all women who have grown into their own and accepted themselves for who they really are as, phoenixes. That single feat is one of the most difficult things a woman can achieve in her lifetime. To be able to be your own woman and not be defined by your challenges is in itself challenging.

Jump! Take that leap of faith!

published on Friday, 26 September 2014

I remember back in high school when programs were organized for us to find our God-given talents. It made people think that these skills were hard to find and would be discovered through divine intervention, sort of like speaking in tongues. People ignored the skills that were already there, not knowing that talents were innate and not treasures dug up. And so for a long time lived their lives without an aim hoping that one day their talents will shine on them. They kept themselves busy with qualities they call hobbies. Not knowing that these qualities they find interesting, these qualities that take up their time, these qualities they are passionate about are actually not random but they are what makes every individual special, they are talents.

I was on instagram one day when Toke Makinwa posted something like "queens are women who help each other grow". Annie Idibia also put up a post like that once and I thought to myself, why don't we ladies do this to ourselves? Why do we bring each other down? Why don't we help each other grow?

I'm here! It just took me a while to figure that out!

Babcock University’s 2014 Valedictorian: A Man Said I Won’t Graduate with a First Class

published on Tuesday, 10 June 2014

Meet 19-year-old Daniella Uzoamaka, the 2014 best graduating student from Babcock University, Illishan-Remo, Ogun.Daniella scored a first degree in Public Administration with a Cumulative Grade Point Average 4.86, out of 5.00.The valedictorian was honoured with numerous awards including President's Award, Senior Vice-President Prize, the Dean Business School Award and the Academic Programme in Public Administration.Daniella reveals that her road to success, was not a smooth ride, as she wrote her SSCE four times and was quite distracted. Her twin sister, Gabriella, who will graduate from Covenant University on June 27th, also has a first class degree in Industrial Chemistry. In an interview with Punch, she shares all the details. On writing her secondary school examinations four times: "I have a piece of information for you. Do you know that I wrote the SSCE on four different occasions? The first was the private candidate November/December WASSCE; then my WAEC, NECO and another Nov/Dec examination. I did these examinations then because I had problem with Mathematics. You see, I realised at an early stage in my academic pursuit that examination malpractice is not a road to success. The farthest I can remember engaging in any examination malpractice was in my Junior Secondary School 1 class. Further, during my WAEC preparation, I was encouraged by the words of my school principal, Mrs. Oloriade, that it is better to fail honourably than to cheat. These words helped me to keep tight to my integrity in my exams."On the secret to her success: "A particular event occurred in my first year that kept me on my toes throughout my stay in the university. After the first semester result was released, a guy walked up to me and bluntly told me that I was not going to graduate with a first class. I was frightened at his response to my first year success. However, I was determined that the grade I had (4.6) then would be the very least I would ever have."On social life: "I had an active social life on campus. During my stay in school, I served in several offices that have added to my training and experience as a leader. I was the Vice-President of the Public Administration Students' Association. I was a pioneer member of a voluntary club on campus (Trendz Club). This club has the aim of redefining the negative trends on campus and it helps to raise funds for the less-privileged students. I later served as the treasurer of the club. I was a member of the Redeemed Christian Fellowship, where I served as the treasurer. I was also a chorister on campus. In all, my experience in the university was demanding, challenging and exciting."On  if she would have scored the same results at a public university: "Most people believe that studying in a private university offers a smooth ride to success, but I would like to disabuse their minds in this regard because the same values of determination, luck and courage you need to survive in a public university are the same you will need to survive in any environment. Hence, I believe that I would not have performed any lesser if I had studied in a public university."On distractions: "There were lots of distractions for a young girl like me. These include going to parties, the temptation to have all the luxuries that other girls had and devoting time to movies instead of on my studies. However, there is a saying that 'The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom'. These words kept me on track and I never lost my way."

Congrats Daniella!

Pregnant Kefee Needs A Miracle To Survive- Doctors

published on Sunday, 8 June 2014

Tribune reports exclusively that a Nigerian musician based in the United States has revealed to them that a doctor has told him Kefee needs a miracle to survive. According to the source, the doctor said, the chances of Kefee getting out of coma are slim as her situation not only requires prayers for survival, but also a miracle as she has been diagnosed of having high blood pressure.

A Nigerian medical doctor also described the situation as very critical. Dr Adeyefa, told Tribune; "Kefee is in a precarious situation because of the six months pregnancy. If the foetus had been nine months, the doctors would have removed the baby and saved the mother and child. As it is now, not only will the baby not survive because the carrier is in coma, Kefee may also lose her life from further complications. The chances of the mother surviving is narrow, while the kid has a narrower chance. I urge Nigerians to pray for her for a miracle because that is what she really needs," he added. It would be recalled that pregnant Kefee had embarked on a 14-hour flight to Chicago on Friday, but went into coma, which forced the plane to land in Los Angeles so she could be urgently attended to.
